51 more tracks of original Pink Floyd
material has been  added to our
Pink Floyd radio station on Kaos Sound.
These tracks are on 5 albums of  previously unreleased material here in the UK. Indeed, most of the material was only available on ROIO's. These new tracks are all genuine, legal Japanese pressings.

The question is - why do the Japanese get to have  these recordings while the rest of the world, and the UK in particular, don't?

Anyway, rant over! We are delighted to have been able to add to the playlist the following:

All of these sessions were presented by John Peel.

The album consists of 5 tracks and includes a recording of a rehearsal session for the show.

Reworkings of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon and  Wish Were Here have been added to the KAOS playlist; this increased that playlist by a further 15 tracks

These reinterpretations have been produced by the British magazine MOJO who has a reputation to celebrate the ongoing impact of landmark albums, of which these are just two.

The contrast between the original albums is emphasised by the differing musical textures on these new versions; The Dark Side is a more traditional rendition while Wish You Were Here has been designed as a deconstruction of its predecessor.

Both bring new perspectives on two of Pink Floyd's most significant albums.

BBC Sessions 1971
Darkside Live Wembley
Live 8 Hyde Park
Three albums of sessions that the Pink Floyd did for the BBC. The first, recorded in 1967 with Syd Barratt in attendance consists of 14 tracks and was recorded between May 14th and December 27th over 4 different sessions.
The second album, is from sessions recorded between March 26th 1968 and July 20th 1969 with David Gilmour replacing the great Syd Barratt. These sessions resulted in a further 16 tracks.
The third session album comes from 1971 and was recorded on September 30th. Unfortunately there are only 5 tracks on this disc, but it does include a 26 minute version of Echoes.
The fourth album is also from a BBC recording of a broadcast of the complete performance of The Dark Side Of The Moon which was performed live from The Wembley Empire Pool on 16th November 1974.
The fifth and final addition to the playlist at this
time is a recording of the very last time the Pink
Floyd will ever play together. It is of course their
performance at the charity concert organised by Bob
Geldof for Live 8 on 2nd July 2005.
This performance was the first time in 24 years that these four had played together on the same stage. It was also, sadly, the last as on the 15th September 2008 Richard Wright the keyboard player lost his fight against cancer.
